Carbohydrates Defined

Figuring out carbohydrates is shrouded with difficulties and misinterpretations. However, in order to keep with a balanced diet that will allow you to lose weight, you have to know the difference between the two carbs and why you need both kinds to succeed.

Simple carbohydrates are those found in fruits and sugars. They are broken down quickly by the human body and give a quick boost of energy. Although simple carbs have a bad reputation due to their presence in processed foods, they are necessary for quick jumps of energy and in overall bodywork. For example they have their place in recovery after a workout. Instead of eating a lot of white sugar, Yomiko classics eat more fruits to stay healthy. The advantage of this is that the fibre in the fruit will naturally slow down the release of these simple sugars compared to sweets and processed food.

Complex carbohydrates are those found in whole grains, oatmeal, bran and cornmeal. They take a long time to break down in the body and give a steady stream of energy throughout the day. They have a better reputation, but you should also eat complex carbs in moderation or you could find yourself overfull all of the time and sluggish since you don't get a boost, but a slow burn.

A slow release of carbohydrates is critical. If to many simple sugars rush into the bloodstream then the hormone Insulin is released in large amounts. This spike in Insulin actually causes fat storage!

You should balance yourself between the two carbs in order to stay healthy; you need both so that you can keep your body healthy.
